Signs Your Linear Keypad & Intercom Repair Is Failing

• Buttons need to be pressed hard or repeatedly before the gate responds. This is almost always the membrane or the tactile switches wearing out inside the keypad. The fix is a new keypad or a rebuilt keyboard assembly, not a new gate board.
• The keypad beeps but the gate does not move. The keypad may be sending the signal, but the relay is not closing. We see this on keypads that are 8 to 12 years old in Northridge, where heat cycling has cracked a solder joint on the relay.
• The intercom rings the house, but no audio comes through in either direction. This is typically the speaker or the microphone element in the outdoor call box failing. Sun and dust are the usual culprits.
