Linear changed post bracket dimensions between generations, and a bracket from an old Linear G2000 does not always line up with the newer LRA arm without an adapter plate.

When the bracket welds weaken, the arm gets lateral load it was never meant to take. You will see it flex, hear a clunk at the end of the cycle, or find fresh metal shavings under the arm pivot.
• The gate stops mid-cycle and reverses. Linear control boards detect resistance and reverse to prevent damage. A failing weld or cracked bracket creates intermittent mechanical resistance that confuses the board. The opener looks like the problem. It isn’t; the metal is.
• Rust staining around the hinges, bolt heads, or arm connection. That reddish-brown weeping around a weld joint means water is getting in and the rust is working outward. CA weather is gentler than coastal climates, but sprinkler overspray and morning dew settle on gate hardware and sit there. We have seen hinges rust completely through while the rest of the gate looks fine.
• The gate rattles in wind or feels loose when you push on it by hand. A properly hung gate is solid. Play at the hinge or arm connection is the earliest warning sign of weld fatigue. On a Linear-equipped gate it will only get worse, and it will shorten the life of the opener.
